What Is New in Download All Files 1.7.3
Version 1.7.3 is out, and it is a solid one. This update sharpens the Deep Search tool, makes ZIP downloads sturdier, and gives the interface a cleaner look. Here is what changed and why it matters in daily use.
Deep Search that shows its work
Deep Search is my go to for pages where files hide behind plain links, the kind with no normal file name that most tools skip right over. This version makes it much nicer to use.
The biggest change is that results now appear one by one as they are found. Before, I had to wait for the whole scan to finish before I could act. Now files pop into the list as Deep Search uncovers them, so I can start downloading right away instead of watching a spinner. On a page with many links, that alone saves real time.
There are also friendly messages guiding you along the way. My favorite small touch is the tidy note that tells you when a search finishes with nothing found. In the past, an empty result left me wondering whether the button even worked. Now it is clear the scan ran and simply came up empty.
Deep Search is gentler too. If a website is busy, it politely backs off. It skips links that clearly will not work, and it will not get stuck on slow or unresponsive pages. In practice that means fewer frozen scans.
ZIP downloads that hold up
The other big area of work is ZIP downloads, and these changes fix things I used to run into.
Creating a ZIP now has its own clear progress screen. It even shows a Compressing step, so you always know which stage you are in rather than staring at a bar and hoping. I download large batches often, and just seeing that step told me the tool was working, not stalled.
Under the hood, building a ZIP uses less memory now, and the size limits went up. That means I can bundle more files and larger files into one archive without it choking. For anyone who gathers big document sets, this is a real help.
Downloads are also more resilient. If a site is temporarily overloaded, the extension retries instead of giving up, and it will not hang forever on a stalled connection.
A cleaner, more flexible look
On top of the bigger features, the interface got some polish. The toolbar, the file list, and the progress bars were all refreshed, and the layout is easier to read at a glance.
The layout is also more flexible, so it handles more situations gracefully. Whether the window is small or you are working with a long list of files, things stay tidy instead of feeling cramped.
Getting the update
If you already use Download All Files on Chrome or Firefox, the update should reach you on its own, and everything I described is ready to go.
None of these changes are loud, but together they make the extension faster to act on and steadier when things go wrong.
